Clemátis

Clematis is a large genus of mostly climbing plants known for their striking flowers. With around 300 species, Clematis belongs to the buttercup family (Ranunculaceae) and thrives in temperate climates worldwide, avoiding colder northern areas and tropical zones. It prefers deep, well-drained, nutrient-rich soils and sunny locations.

The roots, however, prefer cooler soil, making it ideal to plant low-growing ground cover around the base to provide shade.
