Orchid or phalaenopsis are the most popular houseplants. They are suitable for modern interiors, office spaces or as arrangements in business units. It is an original gift for birthdays, holidays and rare occasions. Thanks to the color scale and shapes, it is a beautiful floral element. It will give the interior a feeling of modern style with a touch of exoticism.
If they have suitable conditions for growing, they will make you happy for several years.
Caring for houseplants with orchids is easy, just basic needs such as light, temperature and humidity.
You can find orchids in different colors and sizes depending on the variety.
Most orchids require humid, well-drained conditions. The basic mixture for growing orchids consists of coarse perlite or fir bark. You can also add charcoal, but it's up to you. In general, the degree / type of bark depends on the type of orchid grown. For example, phalaenopsis orchids are usually grown in the rough bark, the cattleya (uncrowned queen of the orchid kingdom) in the middle bark, and young orchids are best grown in the fine bark.
Place the orchids to the window or to the south. They like a lot of light, but they don't have to be direct. Lack of light results in poor flowering. Too much light, on the other hand, can damage the leaves. Temperature is also important for the care of indoor orchids. While orchids tolerate colder or warmer temperatures during the normal growing season, they must be about 15 degrees colder at night for sufficient flowering. The proximity of the central heating does not indicate them.
Orchids need plenty of water, but you should let them dry a little between waterings. If the perlite / bark is dry, give them some water. It is best and recommended to water the orchids with watering. For example, leave them for 2-3 hours in a container of water to drink enough. However, do not leave them here any longer, as they may rot.
Other orchid care tips include transplanting, which is commonly done every other year. If your orchids suddenly stop blooming but have the right light, temperature and humidity, it's time to transplant. Here it is good to make a cut, to revive the flower from the roots. Remove the flower from the ball, clean the roots and cut the old ones - dry. Don't be afraid of this radical step, the flower will soon return it to you with beautiful new flowers. This is not necessary for new orchid flowers.
Orchids in translucent - transparent pots stand out the most. They also testify to them because even the roots need light for their growth. Nowadays, you can buy modern transparent flower pots of all sizes.
Also watch out for signs of pests or flower diseases. Orchids can occasionally attack flies or aphids. These can usually be washed off or treated with a special product for them. Orchid preparations are freely available in garden centers and special florists.
